We began cleaning up our town in 2010 because we strongly believe that a clean Altrincham is a much more pleasant place to live in. We are not a service that can or should be relied upon in place of Council services, but we aim to improve upon those services, delivering higher standards of cleanliness. This includes picking up litter, removing graffiti where possible and illegal fly-posting in all its forms.
We also work hard to educate others about it not being acceptable to drop litter or ruin the environment in other ways. Inevitably, this usually takes the form of working with children and youngsters. Getting them involved in the cleaning of our environment opens their eyes to the problem and the fact that 'somebody' always ends up cleaning up the mess. We therefore often facilitate litter picks for schools and youth groups.
We also support teenagers who are doing their Duke of Edinburgh Award and are working with schools registered with Keep Britain Tidy's 'Eco-Schools' programme.
